In the Spur, explores courage as an instinct or a sudden surge that pushes us to act despite fear, danger, or uncertainty. It captures that instinctive pulse: the moment when strength overtakes hesitation, when the body and the mind remember how to stand tall. Through five ceramic forms, the emotional topography of courage unfolds with its tremors, ruptures, and quiet recoveries. Clay, with its fragility and steadfastness, becomes both witness and vessel. In a landscape marked by collective trauma and silence, In the Spur speaks to the courage of persistence - the will to move forward, rebuild, and remain visible. These works transform the fleeting impulse of bravery into form, gesture, and memory, thus holding space for the strength that rises from within.
Cybelle Moutran (b. 1973) is a Lebanese ceramic artist based in Beirut. With a background in business and an MBA, she transitioned from founding a luxury travel agency to pursuing her passion for ceramics in 2017. Her sculptural work explores the expressive potential of clay, transforming raw material into poetic abstractions that evoke emotion and narrative. Through her evolving practice, Moutran crafts pieces that transcend form, embodying emotion, storytelling, and deep personal reflection.
