In Lebanon, he explores the country, photographing the countless places and events that shape it. As one approaches the port, the grid formed by buildings that have become memories of the explosion illustrates the complex entanglement faced by the inhabitants of the territory. A light from outside the frame nonetheless merges with the scene, suggesting the continuation of an external, living and active presence, refusing to confine the scene to what it appears to be.
Merlin Ferret is a self-taught photographer who explores socio-political issues in France and abroad through the perspective of those confronted with situations of crisis. Based between Lebanon and Syria, he firmly pursues the idea that images are both a social bond and an essential tool for telling and preserving the stories of the men and women who shape their time.
