Safran du Liban
Safran du Liban, born from a time of governmental collapse and economic hardship, the rise of Lebanese saffron symbolizes a quiet revolution—citizens stepping in where the state had failed. Before the crisis, Lebanon relied almost entirely on imports, with local agriculture nearly forgotten. Yet from this void emerged new projects like “Safran du liban, ” carried not by institutions but by individuals determined to restore dignity and self-reliance.

Freedom Recalled is a landmark exhibition at Beit Beirut which confronts Lebanon’s unresolved history of impunity, the failures of justice and the unhealed wounds that continue to echo through its collective psyche. At its heart, Freedom Recalled asks: Do we bear a responsibility to remember — and if so, how? What silences do we choose to uphold, and what price must truth exact in return?
