Michel Tabet
Michel Tabet is a filmmaker and anthropologist (CNRS-Ifpo) whose approach lies at the intersec;on of documentary and social sciences. He has devoted much of his work to social and religious issues in the Arab world (Lebanon, Syria, Algeria, Tunisia) and is currently working on the ques;on of crises and disasters in Lebanon and Iraq. He is involved in various inicialves that connect anthropology and cinema (Jean Rouch Fes;val in Paris and Tunis, Aswat Festival in Lebanon, Haizebegi in Bayonne), where he contributes to programming and training. His filmography includes Méditerranée (France, 2020), Voices from Kasserine (Tunisia, 2017), and Les larmes de Hussein (Lebanon, 2006).

Freedom Recalled is a landmark exhibition at Beit Beirut which confronts Lebanon’s unresolved history of impunity, the failures of justice and the unhealed wounds that continue to echo through its collective psyche. At its heart, Freedom Recalled asks: Do we bear a responsibility to remember — and if so, how? What silences do we choose to uphold, and what price must truth exact in return? And ultimately, how might the pursuit of justice become a catalyst for personal healing and national renewal? Explore
